  2. ARTICLE INTELLIGENCE
    https://blackgirlinmaine.com
I found Black Girl in Maine blog when Samuel James posted a link to an article he wrote for the sight. I read Sam’s article because he is an amazing storyteller both in song and print. The site is a collection of great Maine culture writers, predominantly Shay (aka Black Girl in Maine). I read ever article published by the site. It is super important. Subscribe and donate to BGIM.
  3. GO JOE
    http://www.josephsmachines.com
Have you ever wanted to watch video after video of homemade Rube Goldberg machines, but hate OK GO? Well, look no further, Joe builds mind blowing family friendly machines. Say goodbye to the next few hours and say hello to a world of chain reactions.
  4. IT’S OKAY (I PROMISE)
    https://www.netflix.com/title/80186863
Netflix just released season one of The Umbrella Academy, a ten episode adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s comic book of the same name. A quirky family drama with super-powers, heartbreaking and heart-pounding. If you enjoy GW’s storytelling from Black Parade, Killjoy’s or his run of Doom Patrol; you will love this show and book. Every ounce of this show is magic.
  5. TRY IT OUT
    http://www.yourmomshousepodcast.com
Water Champs Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky host this hit youtube show and podcast, Your Mom’s House. For fans of O&A or classic Stern; this honest, fun, funny, irreverent, and gross podcast will have you rolling. Keep those jeans high and tight! They are home here now, cool guy!
  6. RANT N RAVE
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu7TZ_ATWgjgD9IrNLdnYDA
LITTLE BIG are a Russian rave group. Until recently LB were best known for the video to their song, My Dick is Big. As funny as it is ridiculous, I immediately fell in love with Little Big and downloaded all their records. High energy, aggressive dance party music. Imagine if LMFAO or Die Antwoord were from St. Petersburg. Recently LB has set the world on fire with their latest banger, SKIBIDI; whose video has 186 million views. You will either love them of hate them.

Have a great month! xo Boo!

SIX SICK PICKS – FEB 2019

  1. PITTER PATTER. LET’S GET AT ‘ER.

http://www.letterkenny.tv

You have likely seen the ads on Hulu of a country boy reciting a poem in a thick accent, followed by a mish-mash of exciting, albeit unrelated, scenes of people fighting. The music playing is reminiscent of the Jaskass theme song, but next thing you know you are back watching another episode of SVU.

My Advice: Turn off SVU. The dad did it. And press play on season one episode one of Letterkenny.

This show is unbelievably funny. A blend of Always Sunny and Trailer Park Boys with a dash of Edgar Wright and Kevin Smith by way of Degrassi. This wondrous Canadian comedy follows the residents of Letterkenny and their problems. The writers and actors have created an intoxicating vibrant world. I never wanted to go to the world in Avatar, but I would love to grab a Puppers with the boys in Letterkenny.

Idiosyncratic, charming and endless quotable. Allegedly.

2. CONSPIR-E-CHEESE

https://www.youtube.com/user/shane

I really never watched YouTube until I was able to stream videos using the PS3. I would watch videos linked on social media, but never really took a deep dive into the site. There are YouTubers that have regular views way higher than primetime mainstream programs.

So I am watching videos about Bohemian Grove and the Denver Airport and I keep getting suggestions to watch Conspiracy videos by Shane Dawson. The thumbnails were bright yellow and seemed to focus on pop-culture theories. After watching a few videos, I’m like who is this Shane fellow. Oh, he’s only the most popular YouTuber on the platform.

His most recent opus made headlines as he looked into the pizza of a popular kids pizza chain.

3. BRAINS!

https://www.shudder.com/movies/watch/horror-noire-a-history-of-black-horror/4548652

Shudder recently released a killer documentary about black voices in horror. Genre superstars, directors, writers and scholars discuss everything from Night of the Living Dead to Get Out. A must watch for any gore hound.

4. OH DRUMMER BOY

https://punchupthejam.com

Every week hosts Miel and Demi, with a guest review and breakdown a popular song that needs a punch up. From Love Shack to Little Drummer Boy PUTJ bring an infectious sense of humor to music criticism. What takes this pod from 10 to 11 on the Spinal Tap scale is every pod ends with a reinterpretation of the song being discussed. A punched up jam if you will.

5. POPPY STAR

https://open.spotify.com/album/5QCXxPUwoOtxeZQmve6w2u

Poppy is an art project. Poppy is a singer. Poppy might be the devil. Poppy may even be a computer virus. Is Poppy a girl? Check out this YouTuber’s newest album. http://impoppy.com

6. WHAM BAMBA

If you want a low sugar peanut snack, look no further. BAMBA. YUM.

XO BOO!
